Give Through a Donor-Advised Fund
Donor-advised funds (DAFs) are one of the most flexible and tax-smart ways to give and, they're easier to use than many people realize. A DAF lets you make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax benefit, and then recommend grants to the organizations you care about over time.
Here are two simple ways you can support Mending the Soul Ministries, Inc. through your DAF:
- Make an outright gift by recommending a grant to Mending the Soul Ministries, Inc.
- Leave a lasting legacy by designating Mending the Soul Ministries, Inc. to receive all or a portion of your fund's remaining value when the fund terminates.
Simply contact your fund administrator to request a distribution or beneficiary designation form, or download the appropriate form from your administrator's website. Then choose the option that best fits your giving goals.

How a Donor-Advised Fund Works
You establish a DAF through a sponsoring organization. This might be a community foundation, a public charity with a DAF program, or an investment company like Vanguard Charitable, Fidelity Charitable or Schwab Charitable. Most sponsors require a minimum initial contribution (typically between $5,000 and $25,000), so check with your chosen sponsor before getting started.
Once your fund is established, you make an initial contribution of cash or appreciated assets such as stocks or mutual funds. You receive an immediate income tax deduction, and some sponsors even allow you to name your fund.
From there, you can recommend grants to your favorite charities including Mending the Soul Ministries, Inc. at any time and in any amount, including a recurring gift. You can also designate which organizations you'd like to receive any remaining fund assets at the time of your passing.
We are grateful for every gift that comes through a donor-advised fund. Each one helps us reach more survivors of abuse and trauma with the healing and hope they deserve.
We encourage you to consult your financial or tax advisor to determine whether a donor-advised fund is right for your situation. We're also happy to suggest fund sponsors if you're just getting started.
Giving Stocks & Bonds
Did you know that giving appreciated stock that you've held for at least a year can be one of the most tax-efficient ways to support healing and restoration? By giving stock directly, you may avoid capital gains tax entirely and, your full gift goes to work bringing hope to survivors of abuse and trauma.

Give Through Retirement Assets
If you are age 70½ or older and have an IRA, you may be eligible to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly to Mending the Soul.
A QCD allows you to make a tax-free gift from your IRA to a qualified charity. By giving in this way, you may avoid paying income tax on the distribution—meaning more of your gift goes directly toward bringing healing and restoration to survivors of abuse and trauma.
There are several potential benefits to making a QCD:
- Your distribution may be excluded from your taxable income
- Your gift can count toward your required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year
- You can support meaningful work while potentially reducing your tax burden
To make a QCD, simply contact your IRA administrator. They can help facilitate a direct transfer to Mending the Soul. Distributions can typically be made by check or electronic transfer.
The maximum annual QCD is $100,000 per individual. If you are married and both spouses are eligible, you may each give up to $100,000 for a combined total of $200,000.
