January 2026

I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being...

Ephesians 3:16

Lord, we ask that you would strengthen our partners through your Spirit giving them endurance, wisdom, and courage for the work before them. Root them deeply in your love, especially in places where the work is hard and the need is great. May they know the fullness of your presence and carry your healing love into every community they serve. Amen.

Jean-Pasteur Katavo

Director of Africa Translations and Emerging Leader Development

 PRAISE & PRAYER

  • Please pray for us as we finalize the editing of the Kids’ Embrace Bible, working alongside a dedicated team of writers and illustrators. Pray also for God’s provision of the funds needed to print 4,000 copies, so that many children may access God’s Word in a meaningful way.
  • In February, we will host a session for trauma survivors alongside a training program for caregivers in Goma. We praise the Lord for His faithful provision so far and ask for prayer as the preparation process continues, that all details may come together smoothly and effectively.
  • Since November, we have been building a Bible study movement involving 500 youth from the DRC “Triangle of Death.” Please pray that God will ignite a deep hunger for the Bread of Life among these emerging young leaders and establish them firmly in His Word.
  • We give thanks to the Lord for Chaplain Esaie Watengya, a Religious Education teacher in one of the largest school complexes in Goma, who is prayerfully considering a transition into full-time chaplaincy. Please pray that he may be inspired, strengthened, and fully equipped for this new calling and approach.
  • We praise the Lord for the opportunity to teach “By His Wounds” and “Children, Our Treasure” as part of the Children and Youth Ministries Course to 35 higher-level students at the Baptist College of Theology and Mission in March 2026. Please pray for effective study, deep understanding, and full assimilation of the material throughout the preparation period and until completion.
  • In January 2026, a Christian library and a public counseling center will open in Goma to serve those in need of care and support. MTS Goma, with its experienced and compassionate caregivers, is committed to giving its very best to ensure the success of this initiative. Please pray for the thousands of people who will find healing, help, and hope through these services.

  • Give thanks to the Lord for these new MTS partners from Kinshasa, the capital city of the DRC.

Daphrose Muteho

Director of Trauma-Informed Gratia Chaplaincy,
Adolescents and Women’s Ministries, Katavo's Wife

PRAYER & PRAISE

  • We give thanks to God for His faithful protection throughout 2025, rescuing us through many challenges. We pray that He may bless our families with spiritual and physical health, guide our primary field of ministry—Himbi High School—through the leading of the Holy Spirit, and make this ministry a source of blessing to many. May the Lord protect our children, families, city, and schools, grant us His peace, and fulfill His promise in Jeremiah 30:17: “I will restore you to health and heal your wounds.”
  • We praise the Lord for 18 years of trauma-informed, redemptive chaplaincy ministry at Himbi High School, one of the largest schools in Goma, where thousands of students have been nurtured in faith and cared for holistically. During the final term of 2025, approximately 400 students committed their lives to the Lord Jesus Christ and are now being discipled. We also thank God for the healing of many students and their parents from war-induced trauma.
  • After a difficult term marked by fear and trauma due to repeated nighttime intrusions into our home, the family has now relocated to a more secure residence. We are deeply grateful to faithful friends of MTS for their prayers and financial support toward our safety, and we glorify the Lord for such Gospel fellowship and love within the Body of Christ.
  • We express sincere gratitude to the MTS leadership for the trust they have placed in Mama Daphrose by entrusting the responsibility of MTS Director of Trauma-Informed GRATIA Chaplaincy, Adolescents, and Women’s Ministries. All glory be to God for His calling, equipping, and grace.
  • We praise the Lord for the rapid expansion of the trauma-informed GRATIA chaplaincy vision: 1) Approximately 200 schools have already pioneered the model. 2) The National Synod, representing 95 Protestant denominations, has adopted a resolution calling for all 28,000 Protestant schools to embrace this vision.
  • We pray earnestly for a national breakthrough, faithful implementation, and lasting transformation across the country as the National Coordinator of the Protestant schools strive to execute the resolution and the MTS team prepares the necessary training for chaplains.

David Mudeya

MTS Beni Regional Office

PRAISE

  • We praise the Lord God for the divine protection He has afforded us, leading us to the end of this year, 2025.
  • We praise God for the ongoing follow-up of the PLPF program in Beni, by the Youth Ambassadors of the Malepe Church, who are meeting the princesses every Sunday after the Church service. God is transforming and filling many of these with hope for a new life in Christ.
  • We praise the Lord God for the successful retreat of the team, which took place on December 30.
  • We praise God for sparing Pastor Muthavali and family from the evil people. Muthavali is one of our master trainers in Beni. On the night of 27th December, his family was attacked by armed bandits, and their property was also attacked.
  • Praising God for the graduation of David, the MTS Coordinator in Beni.

PRAYER

  • The Lord’s healing of Pastor Muthavali.
  • God’s blessing over our next year’s ministry plans and trainings.
  • The Lord God to lead and empower the team in the preparations, and the recording work of the COT radio broadcast teachings this month.
  • We are still praying to God for the healing of Maman Pendeza, a new BHW Healing Groups facilitator in the Malepe Church, who is very sick.
  • We are praying for the BHW radio outreach program through which many people are receiving the Healing message.
  • We are praying to God for economic stability in the DRC. This area has been volatile in recent weeks.
  • We are praying for David Mudeya’s family.
  • We are praying to God for peace and stability, for the end of the hidden genocide in our areas, and for Him to use Leaders to restore Regional Security and diplomatic relations.

Kavusa Mutsopi Albert

MTS-MAMBOWA/DRC

PRAISE

  • We thank God for His protection during November. Since the start of the month, we have faced a difficult period marked by fear and uncertainty due to the increasing attacks by the ADF (rebel group) in various villages around our town of Njiapanda/Mambowa.

PRAYER

  • We need peace to be restored to our region. The enemy is targeting health facilities; we, as doctors, are at great risk of losing our lives here. Please pray that God protects us.
  • We need God to intervene through our country's leaders so that they can take responsibility. We, the people, are victims of those who pursue their own interests.
  • The lives of the people have worsened because they cannot access their fields out of fear of the killers, and they face difficulties in getting quality healthcare due to a lack of finances. All of this causes deep emotional wounds. May God alone bring true healing.
  • There is a need for training on healing inner wounds, specifically for medical teams, since healthcare workers who care for survivors of the massacre often experience secondary trauma during the process. Please pray that it is made possible.

Moise Mawa

Butembo, Lubero, Bashu regional office

PRAYER

  • Pray that the Lord heals the invisible wounds of those who witnessed atrocities in Lubero so they are not paralyzed by fear or despair. (Psalm 147:3)
  • Ask for divine strength so that victims may, through a spiritual process, release their hearts from the hatred and desire for revenge that poison their recovery.
  • Pray for women and children who have suffered sexual violence or humiliation, that they may rediscover their worth in the eyes of God and the community.
  • Ask the Holy Spirit to give us the right words to comfort without causing further pain and to grant us the ability to listen with deep empathy.
  • Pray for protection against "secondary trauma" (the exhaustion caused by absorbing the suffering of others) so that we remain an effective channel of light.
  • Pray for discernment to identify cases requiring spiritual care.
  • Intercede for the end of M23 hostilities and the definitive cessation of ADF massacres, so that people can safely return to their lands.
  • Pray that the Church remains a place of neutrality and reconciliation, where war has divided ethnic groups and families.
  • Pray for families living in camps that God provides for their physical needs while healing their emotional distress.
