August 2025

"Prayer lays hold of God's plan and becomes the link between His will and its accomplishment on earth. Amazing things happen, and we are given the privilege of being the channels of the Holy Spirit's prayer."

 ~Elisabeth Elliot

Dear Prayer Partners,

We continue to stand in awe of how prayer and praise move through hearts, bringing healing and hope. This important work doesn’t just connect us to God's power, goodness, and grace; it weaves us together as a community committed to restoration.

Thank you for walking this path with us. Your prayers are not just heard, they’re felt. And we are deeply grateful for your faithful presence in this journey.

The MTS Team

Stephen Kato

MTS Uganda Country Director

PRAISE

  • We successfully conducted a vet clinic where several animals from three different communities were vaccinated and treated by a team of Christian vet doctors from the USA, in collaboration with Ugandan vet doctors. During the event, evangelism was integrated, resulting in seven people accepting Christ as their personal Savior and Lord.
  • The translation of the Children Our Treasure teacher's guide into Luganda has been completed, and the translation of the parents' journal into Runyoro and Runyankore is in progress. The oral curriculum was accompanied by written materials.
  • Construction of staff houses, the cinema hall, and the restaurant is ongoing at the Shalom Sanctuary.
  • We are also digging tree holes in preparation for planting trees in August, at the beginning of the rainy season.
  • Culverts have been installed at the road leading to Shalom Sanctuary to ease access.

PRAYER

  • Please pray for Mama Celestia, that God grants her good health, and for Dr. Steve, that God continues to guide him, providing strength and wisdom as he cares for Mama Celestia.
  • Pray for the upcoming Kyaka II BHW oral conference and the Kibaale conference, that God would use these resources to bring healing among the participants and help the trainers evaluate the effectiveness of the oral curriculum.
  • Pray that God provides rain in time so we can plant trees at the Shalom Sanctuary.
  • Pray for our families that God continues to bless us with good health.
  • Also, pray for the healing groups that God's healing hand will continue to be at work among them.

Thank you.

Jean-Pasteur Katavo & Daphrose Muteho

Director of Africa translations and emerging leader development

PRAISE

  • We praise the Lord for the safe arrival of our grandson Ebenezer—a testimony of God’s abiding faithfulness. We give thanks for the training of 159 leaders throughout July, each one a seed of transformation entrusted to the soil of destiny.
  • We acknowledge divine protection over our family during the gang attack on the night of July 21, and the safe travel of Mama Daphrose and our two daughters to a place of rest and restoration.
  • We rejoice in the convalescence of Katavo’s mother, in her advanced age and recovering from a coma—a whisper of grace in fragile days.
  • We celebrate the graduation of Finney Muhindo in theology from Africa International University, Nairobi—another pillar arising in the house of legacy.
  • We lift our hearts in awe at the resilience of the people of eastern DRC, living through thirty-two years of war, poverty, insecurity, chronic famine, and unending grief—and yet they continue to hope, to sow, and to rise.

PRAYER

  • Let us pray earnestly for the DRC: that ceasefire may blossom into true and lasting peace—not only the silence of weapons, but the healing of systems, hearts, and futures.

SPECIAL REQUEST:

Pray for the Bible Camp in Butembo from August 6-11

  • Ask that the Lord would make every speaker and team member available and use them powerfully to minister throughout the camp.
  • Pray for the manifest presence of God to cover both the preparations and the entire duration of the Bible camp.
  • Intercede for the transformation of hearts — that many young participants would encounter salvation and that those already saved would be strengthened in their walk with Christ.
  • Lift up the financial needs of the camp. Pray that the event will be completed without any debts, testifying to God's provision.Pray that all organizers would speak the same language — spiritually and practically — and remain united in their shared goal: to win souls and establish them firmly in faith.

Thank you for your prayers.

David Mudeya

MTS Beni Regional Office

PRAISE

  • We thank God and pray for David Kasumba, who is completing his Bachelor’s, and David Mudeya, who is completing his master’s this year.

PRAYER

  • Pray for all planned activities, which include the BHW trainings, COT trainings, the radio outreach, and the Princess Lost and Found.
  • We are also praying for ourselves and our families to be kept safe and healthy.
  • We are also praying for security, stability, and war to stop in our region. At least 40 night worshippers were killed by rebel groups in Komanda on the night of Sunday. Komanda is 130 Kilometers from Beni. Please pray for God’s guidance on how we can bring comfort to this community.
  • We are also praying for those multiple families in the IDPs and war victim children in the orphanages, to be comforted and provided for by God, and for the government’s responsibility regarding this situation.
  • May God sustain David Kasumba who is finishing his Bachelors and David Mudeyam, finishing his Maters, in the hard work they have in these months.

Kavusa Mutsopi Albert

MTS-MAMBOWA/DRC

PRAISE

  • We thank God for the protection and breath of life He continues to grant us. The month of July has been marked by several repeated attacks by the ADF and other militias, but we have seen God's powerful hand; our environment has been spared.
  • Since January, I have suffered from eye problems. I thank the Lord who works through the medications we use. I am experiencing healing on both a physical and psychological level, as the illness affects everything.

 PRAYER

  • This August, we will celebrate our civil wedding on August 12 in Butembo and a religious wedding on August 15 in Beni. We need prayer so that this can take place in an atmosphere of peace and good collaboration.
  • A medical appointment for review with ophthalmologists is scheduled in Uganda. May God make this possible.
  • We need lasting security in our country. May God intervene, for He is the one who can give us lasting peace.

Moise Mawa

Butembo, Lubero, Bashu regional office

PRAISE

  • Praise the Lord for the protection of the families of the MTS Butembo team and Sister Harlette, one of our Master trainers.
  • Praise the Lord for the success of our BHW oral training from July 23 to 26, 2025.
  • We praise the Lord for the support at all levels (psychological, spiritual, and financial) of MTS, the intercession team; we could not do without it.

PRAYER

  • BHW prayer, counseling, and healing ministry for 15 excommunicated pastors.
  • Support for the Princess Found Association (a pilot project for 45 girls who have decided to stop working in the sex trade for their survival and total autonomy).
  • Conference to comfort children with disabilities.
  • Support for 20 childless couples who suffer insults and ridicule of all kinds.
  • Seminar to comfort those in distress (the poor, the disabled, widows, orphans, the wounded).
  • The latest Washington agreement must not become yet another forgotten text. Peace in the DRC requires sincere political compromises, structural reforms, and a justice system that heals the wounds.

Joshua Ortiz

Indigenous Bible College

PRAISE

  • We praise God for how He is sustaining and teaching us through our busy months.

PRAYER

  • Joshua started another master’s course, and Brina will start meeting with ladies for Bible studies and book studies. We both learned what this entails as husband and wife with the first go round. Pray that we can be understanding and patient and seek the Lord to meet our needs.
  • Summer work teams and completion of IBC’s fitness center - IBC is seldom empty. Students are living on campus from August to May, and volunteers or work teams stay on campus from May to August. This summer, the goal is to complete a long-awaited desire of IBC, which is the completion of its fitness center! Pray for safety, unity, and oneness of mind for those helping with this project and others. That God would provide the funds needed to make it possible for our students to graduate debt-free.
  • Students serving in other ministries or at home, and staff traveling for deputation. We have multiple students and staff serving across the country right now, whether they are speaking at churches, meeting with donors, serving the youth, or visiting their families, many of our IBC family have an opportunity to be light and testaments of God’s power in multiple places, sometimes very dark places. Pray for strength, endurance, and against the schemes of the enemy.

Titus & Stephanie Folden

MTS Regional Coordinator for Latin America and Europe

 PRAYER

  • Pray for Oscar Mora, who will begin teaching the second round of Explore on August 2nd with adults from the church “Casa de Fe” in Guayaquil who are preparing to become foster parents.
  • Pray that the church-based foster care program would continue to have favor with the Ecuadorian government.
  • Pray for Ana Gloria as she mentors several MTS facilitators who are starting new groups.
  • Pray that the final stages of the Spanish translation project of “Caring for the Vulnerable Child” will go smoothly.
  • Pray for MTS networking between Christian leaders in Europe.

Thank you for all your prayers.

They make all the difference!
