December 2025

In him was life, and the life was the light of men.
The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness has not overcome it.

John 1:4-5

Dear Prayer Partners,

As we celebrate the season of Emmanuel, God with us, we’re grateful for the hope and healing Christ brings into every nation and community. Christmas shows us that God steps into our world with light, restoring what is broken, and we see that same light spreading through our global Mending the Soul family.

For that we praise God for the faithful work of our partners around the world. Through their courage and compassion, survivors are encountering safety, dignity, and healing. Each group they lead shines the light of Christ into places where trauma has tried to overshadow hope.

This month we lift up our global leaders, trainers, facilitators and translators. Let us pray for strength, protection, and encouragement as they walk with survivors through tender and complex stories. Pray that God’s presence would be deeply felt in every group meeting, training, and conversation, especially in regions where resources are scarce and the needs are great.

So very grateful,
The MTS Team

Adolescents and Women’s Ministries

PRAISE & PRAYER

  • Join Chaplain Daphrose Muteho in praising the Lord for the 300 students who committed their lives to Christ in September. Thank God for His protection during November. Pray for the ongoing nurturing and discipleship of these new believers through basic Christian faith instruction and one-on-one counseling. Pray that their faith remains strong and deeply rooted.
  • We praise the Lord for inspiring the leadership of the Church of Christ in Congo (CCC), the Protestant umbrella organization representing 95 denominations. The CCC has passed a landmark resolution mandating a full-time chaplain for each of its 28,000 schools, implementing the redemptive model pioneered by Mama Daphrose and GRATIA Counseling Ministries. Pray for the successful implementation of this immense national vision. Ask the Lord to provide resources, training, and spiritual growth as this initiative is rolled out across the country.
  • Pray fervently for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Rwanda. Pray that the long-awaited peace accord will be signed in December, leading to genuine and lasting peace and stability in the Great Lakes region.
  • We give thanks to the Lord that Katavo has been given the significant opportunity to write discipleship teachings for 1,000 churches. These materials are intended to reach and disciple approximately 350,000 church members in Biblical Emotional Intelligence in 2026, aiming to bring healing and restoration to their souls. Pray for divine inspiration for Katavo as they develop this curriculum. Pray also for the immense impact of this initiative: that the materials will be well-received, effectively taught, and will successfully mend the souls and transform the emotional lives of the 350,000 church members reached.

David Mudeya

MTS Beni Regional Office

PRAISE

  • We thank the Lord for the COT recording work initiated this month. This will continue next month, with broadcasts beginning in January 2026.
  • We thank the Lord for the successful completion of the BHW teachings to the youth at Ngongolio Church (held every Friday evening) and for the positive progress of these teachings to women at Kangaembi Church (every Thursday morning).
  • We thank God for the birth of JONATHAN (November 4th) in my (David Mudeya’s) family.
  • We praise the Lord for David's successful thesis defense on November 28th. His graduation is scheduled for December 6, 2025, in Kampala, Uganda.

PRAYER

  • We pray the Lord to comfort Akila and their extended family from the death (by sickness) of their father. This happened last week at Mutwanga in the Ruwenzori.
  • We pray the Lord God to lead and empower the team in the remaining part of the preparations and the recording work of the COT radio outreach teachings, which continues in December.
  • We are still praying to God for the healing of Maman Pendeza, a new BHW Healing Groups facilitator in the Malepe Church, who is very sick.
  • We are praying to the Lord God for His healing work in the ongoing BHW teachings to women of the Kangaembi Church.
  • We are still praying for the BHW radio outreach program, through which many people are receiving the message of healing weekly.
  • We are praying to God for economic stability in the DRC. This area has been very unstable these recent weeks.
  • We are praying to God for peace and stability, for the end of the hidden genocide in our areas, and for Him to use Leaders to restore Regional Security and diplomatic relations.

Kavusa Mutsopi Albert

MTS-MAMBOWA/DRC

PRAISE

  • We thank God for His protection during November. Since the start of the month, we have faced a difficult period marked by fear and uncertainty due to the increasing attacks by the ADF (rebel group) in various villages around our town of Njiapanda/Mambowa.

PRAYER

  • We need peace to be restored to our region. The enemy is targeting health facilities; we, as doctors, are at great risk of losing our lives here. Please pray that God protects us.
  • We need God to intervene through our country's leaders so that they can take responsibility. We, the people, are victims of those who pursue their own interests.
  • The lives of the people have worsened because they cannot access their fields out of fear of the killers, and they face difficulties in getting quality healthcare due to a lack of finances. All of this causes deep emotional wounds. May God alone bring true healing.
  • There is a need for training on healing inner wounds, specifically for medical teams, since healthcare workers who care for survivors of the massacre often experience secondary trauma during the process. Please pray that it is made possible.

Moise Mawa

Butembo, Lubero, Bashu regional office

PRAISE

  • We bless the Lord for the successful outcome of the emergency and humanitarian chaplaincy mission conducted in Biambwe from November 21st to 22nd, 2025, following the killing of 26 people and the burning of a hospital and other property.
  • The BHW ORAL training for 40 master trainers, organized in Butembo from November 17th to 20th, 2025, was a success; we glorify the Lord.

PRAYER

  • Let us pray for the Congolese authorities that they take precautions to ensure the safety of the population. May God reveal to them how they should continue to govern the country, as their current approach has proven ineffective.
  • May those who do not govern according to the Lord's precepts and are unable to ensure the safety of these populations be removed from their positions. May God appoint other leaders capable of governing the country for the well-being of its citizens.
  • The ever-increasing insecurity in the Lubero region means that the number of war-displaced people is growing daily. Please pray for them. Many lack the means to survive.

PRAYER

  • Prayer for creativity in meeting the needs of the different countries wanting Mending the Soul.

Titus & Stephanie Folden

MTS Regional Coordinator for Latin America and Europe

PRAISE

  • Praise the Lord for His faithfulness in Oscar and Consuelo’s lives, for the new people they are meeting through their work as MTS trainers, and for the freedom God is bringing into participants’ lives.
  • Praise God for new connections and potential partnerships in Ecuador made possible through Jeremiah Botello and the Ecuadorians he has trained through MTS. There is growing excitement about possible collaboration between the established MTS ministries—such as Iglesia Cristiana La Roca—and the newly trained leaders under Jeremiah.
  • The photo above is from a recent Explore group taught by Oscar and Consuelo at Iglesia Casa de Fe for prospective foster parents. Praise God for everyone there!

PRAYER

  • Pray for Oscar and Consuelo—their family, marriage, and children—as they plan for the coming year and seek growth in the ministries that are integrating MTS.
  • Pray for Heather Wheelock and Sheree Wuerts in their continued efforts to develop and sustain Ecuador’s foster care program. They need more trained facilitators as the foundation advances its work with prospective foster families. There is also an ongoing need to run new groups with each technical team. Pray that a connection with Jeremiah will open new ministry opportunities.
  • Pray that we can complete the four-book series Caring for the Vulnerable Child in Spanish by February 2026. Many ministries are eager to begin using this material in their communities, especially with future foster parents in Ecuador.
