When Love Hurts DVD

When Love Hurts DVD

When a bride takes her vows, she doesn’t expect violence in return. But sadly for some that is the case. We all know someone who is the victim of verbal or physical abuse: a neighbor, a daughter, a sister, or a friend. This pointed 4-part series will pull back the curtain on this dark secret and offer hope and help to those caught in the cycle of abuse.

Tears came to my eyes when I watched your program “When Love Hurts.”  Finally the church, through your program, speaks out against the spiritual abuse that takes place in domestic abuse.  The isolation, manipulation, and brain washing that occurs during spousal abuse is so damaging but is only magnified when scripture is used to try to convince you that your God doesn’t love you either.  I have never heard, until your program, anyone quote the entire 16th verse in Malachi 2 which says that God hates divorce but that He also hates a man’s covering himself with violence.  Even though it has been eight years since my divorce, my ex-husband just recently put my name on a sign in from of his church stating that I have not forgiven him (more spiritual abuse).  Thank you for airing your program and helping countless Christian women to feel like they are being heard and supported by other Christians.  Please continue to educate well-meaning pastors who themselves can be manipulated by abusers.  Thank you again for your courage in addressing this evil that is clothed in secrecy.

I am a Christian licensed professional counselor and this information from a biblical perspective is so needed.  Thank you for airing it.  It was a real blessing and I intend to share it with my clients.

…the show [When Love Hurts]…was PHENOMENAL!!  Thank you so much for addressing the issue [of abuse].  No one ever likes to talk about it - and it is so very destructive to the soul.

Through the years I have come across ministers and others in ministry who have abused their wives using scripture.  It pains me that this would exist in the church and that the Word of God has been manipulated, misinterpreted.  Thank you for your ministry.  It is a blessing.

There are many Christians suffering in silence, in terms of their faith and on other levels of humanity.  This show and the subject matter gave itself to let individuals who are enduring this issue, that is in the dark for some, understand in the light of things, that they are not alone.  I thank the Lord for the obedience and the bravery of your ministry to touch on the subject.  God bless you and may everything you do to serve the Lord and his people, continue to be edifying and prosperous.

I feel that maybe God had your show [and] Mending the Soul on today just for me.  Maybe it was God’s way of trying to get my attention.  I’ve been on this roller coaster ride with my spouse for a number of years and since January 2003 I have left him numerous times and yet it doesn’t ever change.  He claims to be such a Christian man; and yet, I don’t understand how anyone can claim to be so Christian and treat someone that they love with such cruelty.

I’m a single mom with two daughters, and a survivor of domestic violence.  Your program on domestic violence meant the world to me, and was very timely.  I’ve been asking God to show me His truth when it comes to relationship, but I’ve had a hard time sorting through it all.  I’ve only been able to relate to God through the eyes of my father who is a controller and my husband who was a very scary controller.  I’m hoping this book will help me begin the process of healing.

As one who will be opening a battered women and children center within the next five years, I want to personally thank you for this program.  I too have been a victim of domestic violence, but with the help of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, I have been able to overcome this violent abuse.  I knew women were dealing with some serious problems, but I truly never knew the extent of how the church would cover up and allow it to happen for so long.  It is a shame that is has to happen to leaders in the church before they speak out.  I am so thankful God is helping women speak out about this crime.

I have been looking for materials on domestic violence from the Christian perspective.  I am a faith-based counselor and director of a Christian emergency shelter for women and children.  I am looking forward to presenting this material to my church and at the shelter.
