Resource Development Model

Mending the Soul offers many resources to assist organizations in the use of the community based model of care and healing as it pertains to working with survivors of sex trafficking and exploitation.  The following info-graphic is designed to show the many components that are a part of each resource developed through Mending the Soul.  Using biblical, social science, and field research combined with the cultural relevance of the voice of survivors, psychological best practice, and non-sectarian theology creates resources that are full in dimension and practice.

“Faith Awakening” Presentation

A ”Faith Awakening” is an opportunity to present to a whole community the issues of sexual exploitation and also cast vision on the  part of the solution each individual has to offer.  We share some education on the scope of the problem in our communities regarding sexually trafficked female minors based on the social science research, the mission of God and a biblical rationale for the churches engagement, and a sustainable community based model of care and healing which is offered through Mending the Soul and Princess Lost.

Mending the Soul believes that no single church or ministry can accomplish this work, but that it will require the collaboration of many churches, denominations, clinicians, ministries and support agencies. As Christian leaders we have an unprecedented opportunity to create a culture of compassion and care that is developed through God’s people equipping themselves through strategic research, resources, and training.

Consulting

Mending the Soul offers consultations for any organization desiring to use the community-based model of care and healing and the Princess Lost curriculum with survivors of sex trafficking and exploitation.  Our basic consulting package includes all three of the trainings listed below done at the location designed by the organization, plus three (3) six hour direct contact consultations and two phone consultations with Steve and Celestia Tracy.  The trainings and consultations are designed to assist the organization in developing their training program for volunteers, staff, and the community by equipping them to work with those who have been sex trafficked and exploited.

We also offer personalized consulting packages that include but are not limited to the following:  a written report of basic recommendations for aftercare of sex trafficked and exploited females; written report of key recommendations for residential aftercare; ministry development; staff hiring; in-house program development; additional one-day seminars designed for facilitators, pastors/church leaders, or community leaders; one-day seminar on research findings for prostituted female adolescents; extensive research report to be used by organization for possibly grants and funding.

Training

72 hour block of trainingTraining offered through Mending the Soul for volunteers and staff working with survivors of sex trafficking and exploitation requires a 72 hour commitment.

We know those who have the most compassion and understanding are the most effective in this type of ministry.  This compassion and understanding is found in those who have recognized their own brokenness resultant from the distortions of their created design, and have committed to do  a significant amount of their healing.  They are the ones who will be “allowed in” by the girls they work with because they are not working on a project but operating out of their personal understanding of pain and healing.  Therefore the first tier of our training includes  a Mending the Soul small support group for each individual to process through any of their own personal story of brokenness.  In addition to the small support group we also conduct a weekend training on the theology of abuse, the effects of abuse, and hope in healing that comes through redemption.

Our second tier of training includes understanding the development of a teenager…what is normal and what is risky behavior.  We also address the brain development of a teen and the disruptions that happens during trauma.  This tier is completed in a weekend training.

The third tier of training is specifically designed for those working with sex trafficked and exploited girls.  This training will address the research, theology, survivor’s voice, and psychological best practice of working with this traumatized population.  We include specific instruction on using the Princess Lost curriculum developed through Mending the Soul.

Curriculum

Princess Lost ResourcesThis four part curriculum is designed to guide the survivor through the process of understanding her own story and revealing the lies about herself she has accepted as truth in her life.  It takes her through the process of the abuse and distortions that has happened in her life, uncovers the coercion and manipulation she endured, and teaches her to accept that she is truly worthwhile.  In addition these resources equip and educate the caregiver as she walks alongside each girl through this process.

  • Princess Lost: A Fairy Tale - This is the truth of her story…herself, her faith, and her relationships.  It reveals the hope she was created for as she dares to allows herself to believe she is the princess.
  • Princess Lost Healing Music CD - This is an incredible album of 18 healing songs that supplement the chapters in The Lost Princess. This music is ethereal - a language of its own with power to heal that reverberates with the passion known only by survivors.
  • Princess Lost Interactive Journal - This piece guides sexually exploited girls in unfolding their story. Their stories are unique - each one must be told. This journal will show her how.
  • Princess Found:  A Guide for Mentors of Sexually Exploited Girls -  This guidebook is survivor informed and gives an accurate and detailed understanding of the experiences and needs of this population, which is essential to knowing them, and knowing them is essential to helping them heal. It provides both the foundation of the social science research and the integration of a theology of healing, which will serve as a guide for the caregiver in his or her support of the survivor.
