The “Global Trauma Healing Community of Practice” conference is designed for leaders working in the majority world in trauma healing ministry.  Steve and Celestia will be sharing about the MTS model and healing resource. The conference will be sponsored by the American Bible Society and will take place in Philadelphia, PA.

Registration costs include training materials and lunch on Saturday.

• At the Door Registration (after March 23rd) $200 per person

Group Discounts:

In order to qualify for a $25/per person group discount the following conditions must be met and guidelines adheared to: 

• Groups must include 10 or more individuals from a single organization or church.
• All group members must register (complete step 1) no later than March 23, 2012.  (Registration will be made individually but will need to indicate organization’s name in the space provided.)
• One single check paying for the entire group, made out to Mending the Soul, must be mailed and postmarked by March 23, 2012. 
• A list of individuals names included in the payment must attached to check.
• Cancelled registrations may result in additional fees per individual and therefore may not allow for refunded fees.
• No fees will be refunded for individuals who have previously paid for their own registration in order to be included in a group discount.

Friday Training

• Theology of Suffering, Brokenness, and Compassion - Scripture has much to say about suffering and brokenness and Christ’s compassionate response.  This opening session brings to light some of the struggles we have in seeing, addressing, and entering into those uncomfortable places so we can bring share the hope that comes from Christ’s redemptive healing.
• God Centered Understanding of Abuse - Each of us has been created in God’s image.  This presentation discusses the types of abuse and how they wound us and distort our original design. 

Saturday Training

• Community Based Model - We begin on Saturday with a brief overview of the MTS community based model, curriculum development,  and the process in which the Lord uses this combination to heal brokenness from abuse.
• Four Primary Effects of Abuse - This session will address and define trauma as well as the effects of abuse:  shame, powerless, deadness, and isolation.  It will also include connecting exercises and group discussion.
• Relational Safety -  Creating safety within relationship is the number one dynamic in healing.  This session will address being a safe person, facilitator or mentor, and what is looks like to be in safe community. 
• Defenses of the Heart -  In defense of pain, we develop strategies of protection.  This session will address seeking to know those strategies within ourselves as well as recognizing them in others.  This session will also include some small group practice and discussion time.

Who Should Attend?

• MTS Small Group Facilitators (new and experienced)
• Pastors, Church Leaders, Ministry Leaders
• Pastoral and Lay Counselors
• Professional Counselors
• Safehouse Volunteers/Staff
• Community Leaders

Please note:  This training is not intended as a next step in the healing journey for those still in the process of recovery from abuse.  It is expected that individuals are familiar with the content of Mending the Soul prior to attending this training.  No CEU’s are available for this training.

We are also accepting submissions of original art and/or poetry to be considered for the new edition of the MTS Workbook.  If you have art/poetry that has been created through your own healing process and would like to submit it to MTS, we would love to consider it for the 4th edition workbook. Please note that items for consideration may only be submitted by original author/artist.  To submit your art/poetry, please upload your jpeg or pdf file in the area noted below.  If you have more than three pieces you would like to submit for consideration, you may fill out and submit additional forms.  Please note we will be unable to notify all those who submit artwork if their piece has been chosen for publication.
